Elementary Physical Education Objectives

  • Students will seek out physical activity.
  • Students will develop and maintain acceptable levels of physical fitness.
  • Students will develop a variety of basic movement and manipulative skills so they will experience success and feel comfortable during present and future physical activity pursuits.
  • Students will develop the ability to get along with others in movement environments (e.g. share space and equipment, employ the 'golden rule' of competition--be a good sport, and demonstrate cooperative behavior).
  • Students will seek out physical activity.
  • Students will learn self-responsibility for physical activity programs.
  • Students will learn goal setting for physical activity and healthy food choices.
  • Students will learn behavior change techniques and other psychological strategies related to movement experionces and the development of a healthy lifestyle.
  • Students will learn basic injury prevention and safety during physical activity.
  • Students will learn Stratgies for fostering family and peer support for activity programs.
  • Students will learn strategies for decreasing sedentary behavior (e.g., reduce television viewing and video game playing).
  • Students will learn the relationship between physical activity, food intake, and body composition.






 

Advanced Weight Training and Conditioning

Students will learn advanced weight training techniques that will help them develop physically in order to be more successful, not only in their chosen sport(s), but also in day to day living. They will learn advanced conditioning techniques such as plyometrics, speed training, cardiovascular training, and agility drills that will improve their overall level of fitness.

This course is designed to provide the students with the necessary skills, knowledge and physical fitness to participate in various activities that will lead to a healthier lifestyle. Hopefully, by being exposed to a variety of activities, by developing and improving flexibility, strength and cardiovascular endurance, the student will lead a healthier, happier life.

Junior High Athletics

This class is our sports practice time. We offer football, volleyball, basketball and track to all the students. Students are highly encouraged to participate in order to begin to develop the skills necessary to be successful in high school. Students who choose not to participate will be required to be physically active during this practice time. All sports teams play an abbreviated schedule against conference opponents.
